Are you looking to give your car stereo a bit of an upgrade in 2022? Let’s take a look at some of the trends that are likely to be taking the world by storm.
We know that some of these are trends that are already gripping many new car stereos. However, we reckon that 2022 is going to take them to a whole new level.
Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
Most new car stereos nowadays are compatible with either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, sometimes both.
When a system is compatible with one of these techs, you will be able to view your phone or tablet screen on your car stereo’s screen. You will have a lot of the functionality that you would have with your phone too. This means:
- Making and receiving phone calls
- Streaming music
- Using apps
Now, at the moment, many apps are not compatible with stereo systems. However, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are starting to work themselves into more and more vehicles, we reckon that this is going to change. So much so that we reckon that app developers will start producing apps (especially GPS) specifically for use in vehicles.
2022 will be the year when the two of these hit the mainstream, although Apple’s wireless carplay is likely to become more frequently available in a few years.
A lot of companies are starting to introduce 3D sound technology into their vehicles. Mercedes is the big one here with the inclusion of DOLBY ATMOS.
However, other vehicle manufacturers are looking into loading up their vehicles with a whole host of speakers so people can really enjoy the music that they listen to.
We believe 2022 is when the vast majority of newly manufactured vehicles will start to switch on over to 3D sound systems.
Cars Will Become Entertainment Systems
This is something that is already happening to an extent. However, we think things will improve even more in 2022.
This means more ways that you can hook your car stereo up to audio. It is also likely that many of these car stereos will even start to gravitate toward video feeds and the like.
This isn’t without its drawbacks; Android auto audio quality can be questionable, so you should consider every aspect before choosing.
Evolving Stereo Software
We are starting to see more vehicles introduce Android operating systems into them.
This means that vehicle stereo manufactures will have new ways in which they can offer features to people that use their stereos. Think along the lines of apps, but ones that have been specifically designed for your audio system.
The thing that we are the most excited about here is the ability for manufacturers to improve on their sound tech. They will then be able to push a software update to you rather than you having to purchase a whole new stereo system.
The evolving software is also going to give you a lot more control over your music e.g. control bass or treble.
2022 is shaping up to be an amazing year for car stereos. With 3D sound and Apple CarPlay becoming the norm, we are excited to see the way in which audio tech will take us.
