Cleaning is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, cleaning produces a bright and bacteria-free apartment. But, it takes a lot of time and effort to get everything clean.

It’s overwhelming thinking of all the ground you have to cover to clean things up. You may find yourself putting it off, especially if you’re already behind.

Even if you live in an apartment, you should still make time to do it regularly.

Having a smaller place means less cleaning. But, if you let it go too long, it’ll take you a lot more time.

One way to stay on top of cleaning is by creating a schedule. Do this now, and you’ll consistently have a clean and organized apartment.

So that you can take action right away, we’ve created a list of nine things you need to clean your apartment.

With these supplies, you’ll be ready to clean everything from top to bottom. Now get to work!

1. Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Cordless vacuum cleaners are incredible inventions because they make cleaning a cinch.

Find one that fits your lifestyle needs since different vacuums have special functions.

Some vacuums are more suited for carpet versus hardwood floors.

And, some come with different attachments. Specific attachments make it easy to pick up, let’s say, coffee beans on a kitchen counter.

If you have a pet, look for a cordless vacuum that does an excellent job at tackling pet dander.

Even though they’re more expensive, you can’t go wrong with a cordless vacuum. But don’t forget to do your research before buying one.

2. Microfiber Cloths

Microfiber is a blend of nylon and polyester. As a cloth, it is perfect for cleaning.

This special cloth is fantastic at absorbing moisture and bacteria.

If you’re looking for a versatile cleaning rag, get yourself a few microfiber cloths. It works on everything from dusting hard surfaces to scrubbing floors.

And, it’s fantastic for cleaning up messes on tile, glass, and even stainless steel!

3. Tea Tree Oil

Use tea tree oil to tackle mold, mildew, and bacteria.

Add it to a pre-made natural cleaner or make a DIY cleaner on your own.

One idea is to mix tea tree oil with warm water. It’s a simple solution, but it works wonders. Plus, if you’re a fan of the smell, you’ll get the bonus of smelling tea tree.

And, if you don’t like the smell (it’s more potent than most oils), try adding some lavender or lemon to tone down the scent.

After your mix is ready, grab a sponge and scrub away at your sink. Who knew that using a tea tree cleaning solution could be that effective!

4. Dishwasher Soap

Dishwasher soap does a lot more than make your dishes sparkly clean.

It can also get stains out of upholstery, clothing, and even carpet!

So stock up on some dishwasher soap. You’re going to need it while you’re cleaning!

5. A Caddy

Without a caddy, it’s hard to keep your supplies all together.

There are all sorts of caddies available that make it easy to carry supplies. You could use a storage bucket with a handle or a quick-dry tote.

Whatever you decide to use, having something to hold your supplies will be helpful. Especially as you move from room to room.

6. White Vinegar

White vinegar is a versatile cleaning solution.

You have the option of adding it to another solution to create a natural cleaner. Mix up white vinegar with dish soap to cut through the grime.

To make your cleaner more pleasant smelling add drops of essential oils.

Lemon, peppermint, and orange create a clean, pleasing scent. They also all happen to have cleaning properties as well.

So, add some essential oils to white vinegar to freshen up your apartment!

You can’t go wrong with using white vinegar to clean, make sure you have some on hand!

7. Rubber Gloves

Keep your hands protected and clean by wearing a pair of rubber gloves.

Rubber gloves especially come in handy when you’re using solutions with bleach. No one wants to bleach their clothes accidentally!

Besides protecting your clothes, wearing them prevents your hands from getting dried out.

Get in the habit of putting on a pair of gloves for any cleaning task. Your hands will thank you for it.

8. Wood Cleaner

If you’re looking to restore and polish wood, invest in some wood cleaner.

Rejuvenating your wood furnishings wouldn’t be possible without this handy cleaner!

Grab one of those microfiber cloths and apply some wood cleaner. It’s best to move the cloth in a circular motion to bring out the natural wood colors.

The transformation will blow you away!

A wood cleaner also works for more than polishing your furniture. Use it to clean the vents and fans in your apartment!

9. Paper Towels

Paper towels are a must-have because they’re so easy to clean something and toss!

You have to admit they’re far too convenient to use. (Be careful, because you should still work hard to save trees!)

But, whenever there’s excess water or grime on the counter or any surface — you know what to grab!

They also are fantastic at cleaning up spills on the floor. Although, if it’s a big spill, use a microfiber cloth instead!

In Conclusion

Cleaning probably isn’t the highest priority on your list. But, it will make your apartment look immaculate and shiny.

As we mentioned before, if dust and grime gather, it’s going to take a lot longer to clean up. So, instead of procrastinating, hop to it!

You now know a bunch of secrets that’ll help you get the job done. Don’t delay cleaning any longer.

If you live with a roommate or significant other, gather the troops! Together you’ll be able to cover more ground than one person alone.

Besides, with these essential cleaning items, everything should go by without a hitch!
