Our zodiac signs reflect a bigger part of us than we do realize on a daily basis. Sure, it may seem far fetch to predict your future based on what was written as old as the stars in the night sky. Although astrology is not a religion, it sure does provide some comfort and the belief in nothing as a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. (or on your sign!) The study of astrological signs offers us deep and meaningful insights to a person’s attitude, character and behaviour, despite what critics say. Although it may seem like basing off your birth date and signs seems like blasphemy or something straight out of a Harry Potter book, let’s venture in the 12 zodiac signs and (almost) everything about them in detail below.
Before we start off, there are four types of signs, which represent the water signs, fire signs, earth signs and also air signs. Water signs are known to be the most emotional and sensitive signs who rely entirely on intuition and deep conversations are its favourite. Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pieces.
Fire signs are alike those of the fiery flames originating from the pits of hell- passionate, dynamic and with a mood that can flay you open. Anger is the friend, yet intelligence and observative as they are, tend to forgive easily. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are in this category.
The humble, down-to-earth and realistic signs are the Earth signs, whereby they do possess emotional vulnerability yet as loyal and practical companions, they are known to be there through tough and thin. The earth signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.
The social animals of the group represent the air signs, as communication and relationships with other people make them feel alive. As thinkers, they possess the skills in building a relationship with anyone they come across, although some are superficial in the friends they make. Air signs are Gemini, Libra (you guessed it!) and Aquarius.
Zodiac #1: Aquarius (January 20- February 18)
Aquarius is known to be very original and independent. Representing air signs, they have the humanitarian spirit in their hearts and they enjoy helping others, due to their incredibly intelligent minds and hearts. Aquarius are party animals, preferring social situations and being the life of the party, however, when they need time alone, they spend it recharging themselves, and making sure they are ready again to make new friends! Aquarius likes listening and giving advice to friends in need and dislikes broken promises and boring situations.
Zodiac #2: Pisces (February 19- March 20)
Art runs in a pisces’s blood. People who are born under this sign possess a talent in arts and music. Intuition is a close friend of this sign and the ability to overtrust remains pisces’s weakness. If a Pisces can control this habit, then the Pisces is indeed strong. A Pisces likes their own space and the glory and thrill of a romance while disliking being criticized and the past coming back to haunt their decisions. As friendly people, they dislike horrors and cruelty of any kind.
Zodiac #3: Aries (March 21- April 19)
Representing the fire signs, Aries is moody, temperamental and impulsive human beings. They do not like inactivity and being bored out of their wits. Liking being the leader in many positions (be it in work or personal life), dominance is key. As passionate and courageous people, they do not fear difficult situations and take it within their stride. They are constantly moving forward into energetic actions and taking the world into possession each day at a time.
Zodiac #4: Taurus (April 20- May 20)
Taurus is a classic example of the Earth signs, and being a reliable and devoted individual, many fathers are born under this sign. However, Taurus are known for their stubborn and hard-headed, uncompromising nature. Taurus are people who like to do manual work, preferring to work in the dirt especially with hobbies like gardening and sculpture. A Taurus dislikes complication, insecurity of any kind, and sudden changes that can affect and compromise their position at the top of the board. Very realistic and stable nature goes hand in hand with Taurus signs.
Zodiac #5: Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Geminis are notoriously known for having two faces; one good and one otherwise. Geminis are gentle creatures, with curious hearts and they possess the talent of learning and adapting quickly in a dynamic environment. Ideas are meant to be shared and their inconsistencies and unstable lives contribute to the idea of them being two-faced. Belonging to the air signs, Geminis are social human beings, loving interactions to stimulate their mind and soul and dislikes being alone. Geminis work better as pairs.
Zodiac #6: Cancer (June 21- July 22)
Cancer is a classic example of the water signs, known for being overly emotional at odd situations. Cancers are highly imaginative and loyal human beings, with a knack for empathetic and emotional intelligence. However, Cancers have a darker side in which their mood and pessimistic behaviour gets the better off situations, they can turn manipulative in order to play the victim and put the blame on others even when they are the ones responsible. Cancer likes art and relaxing with close and loved ones and they develop a strong dislike towards revealing their personal life. They prefer to keep it hidden beyond the judgement of strangers.
Zodiac #7: Leo (July 23- August 22)
Leos are the “Lions”. As a lion would behave, Leos are extremely demanding, self-centered and prideful. However, they are also passionate, generous and warm-hearted creatures with a cheerful indisposition. Leos can also be really lazy, and they hate not being treated like a king or a queen. Born as natural leaders, Leos demand attention and when it is not given, they can be very bossy and hurtful. They do love materialistic gifts for birthdays and enjoy spending time with loved ones. When a Leo is happy, they will be humorous and that’s where their strength lies.
Zodiac #8: Virgo (August 23- September 22)
Virgos are of the Earth signs, they are super loyal, hardworking and kind creatures, eager to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. Animals are Virgos’ best friends and nature is their favourite. A date out in the wilderness will be an exciting adventure for Virgos. Virgos dislikes rudeness and being the life of a party, preferring the backgrounds, their worry of shyness can become their darkest fear at times. They are extremely critical of self and others, work is all they focus on oftentimes, at the expense of themselves. They are also extremely critical to the smallest detail.
Zodiac #9: Libra (September 23- October 22)
Libras are the epitome of an air sign, being cooperative and diplomatic of situations and decisions remains their forte. As fair-minded and social creatures, they oftentimes are very thoughtful of conflicts and know how to make everyone happy while choosing which side to support. They have a strong dislike towards violence and injustice and prefers the outdoors as compared to the indoors. Their weaknesses are in confrontations, whereby if they dislike a certain person, they might harbour a grudge. Libras are not to be messed with, but if they do choose your side, be thankful they’re not against you.
Zodiac #10: Scorpio (October 23- November 21)
Born as the most passionate and desirous of all signs, they are the classic example of a water sign, expressions and emotions are a huge part of their lives. A Scorpio can be the object of vengeful thoughts only when aggravated. Resourceful, brave, stubborn and being a true friend are examples of a Scorpio’s strengths. Scorpio harbours a certain dislike towards fake people and dishonest people. However, a scorned Scorpio can also be dangerous to encounter, as they can get extremely jealous and possessive over what’s theirs. Both determined and decisive, Scorpios are great leaders, ahead of others. They are also often misunderstood.
Zodiac #11: Sagittarius (November 22- December 21)
Sagittarius are adventurers, they have an extremely good sense of humour. However, their weakness; promising more than they can deliver can be their downfall. Sagittarius are free natured people, with many preferring to be outdoors. They extremely dislike clingy people and being constrained in a small place. Both curious and energetic, they love being social and an extrovert in most situations.
Zodiac #12: Capricorn (December 22- January 19)
Capricorns are accountants. (Haha!) Being responsible and disciplined, they make good managers especially in roles that involve financial calculations. They possess a high degree of self-control yet are always in the mindset of expecting the worst of people. The family is the most important thing for Capricorns, and they are known to have a dislike towards everything at a point in life. Capricorns make good friends as they are strong and tough even in the hardest circumstances and they’re best paired together with Taurus’s or Cancers.
